community since 1944, Polk Medical
Center is a 58-bed hospital located in
beautiful Cedartown, Georgia. Fully accredited by the Joint Commission on
Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), the facility is the sole
hospital in Polk County. The hospital has a medical staff of 12 primary care
physicians and a number of specialists and consultants. Major services include:
24-Hour Emergency Center, Full Service Diagnostic Department (CT Scanning,
Ultrasound Testing, Mammography, X-Ray, Bone Density Testing, Mobile MRI),
Inpatient and Outpatient Surgery, Occupational Health, Pharmacy, Physical
Therapy, Sleep Lab, and a full service laboratory. The hospital is supported by
a staff of approximately 100 employees.

a 304-bed, not-for-profit teaching hospital, Floyd Medical Center and a
full range of ancillary services in the Coosa Valley region. We are
home to a state-designated Level II Trauma Center, a behavioral health
center, primary care and urgent care network of providers. We also host a
realm of outpatient services, including the operation of the Floyd
County Clinic and an associated pharmacy for uninsured patients who
cannot otherwise afford health care.

The Polk County Health Department is another excellent source of expert medical attention. The department not only gives vaccinations and immunizations, it provides blood pressure clinics, diabetes clinics, chest x-ray clinics, prenatal clinics, and family planning assistance. Among its other numerous services are hearing, vision, dental testing of children, and tubercular skin testing. Three convalescent homes are found within the county: Rockmart Nursing and Rehabilitation, a 73-bed, skilled and intermediate care facility, Cedar Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation, a 100-bed, skilled and intermediate care facility, and Cedar Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation, a 116-bed intermediate care facility. Polk County has one assisted living facility called Plantation South, a 28-room facility. All convalescent homes are state licensed. |
